I hope your Valentines day was great. I hope the whole week was great!
Someone emailed me asking how I get my models. I don’t. They’re regular people, and they find me! There have been a few women that I’ve seeked out, and a lot of Grand Rapids women won’t let me post their boudoir pictures (understandable but I do thrive on being able to share them when I am able!)
I want to be so clear that the women you see here are NOT by any stretch, professional models. Or even aspiring models! They are legal aids, hospital employees, work in retail, work at the YMCA, hang out at Target, take their kids to Java Gym, they’re all just totally normal women like you and me.
Might be a little delay in blogging… I’m still here though! Facebook me or email if you have any questions about a makeover photo session or boudoir photography. Sexy is back. Glamor is back. Finding your beautiful is absolutely back.

I love facebook. I don’t utilize it fully for my women’s portraits and boudoir photography business but I love it on a personal level.
Love to stay in touch and LOVE to see my hot momma pictures posted and see what people have to say about them!
So this beautiful woman that I’ve been posting about shares some of her images on facebook and I of course notice what is said. She gets a million compliments of couuuuurse, and then says:
{ It’s funny because I am NOT the type that enjoys my picture being taken. I’m really very flattered by your comments. *blushing* Compliments to the diva behind the lens. }
*I’m far from a diva but I do love what I do and I like to think that it shows!
Ane one insightful friend says: { I love what I see! Of course, yes, the subject is absolutely Fab ;)) She did a fantastic job capturing you in the very same way we all see you! Gorgeous, absolutely gorge! }
And that’s really it. It is how people see you. I help you to find and to FEEL your beautiful and capture that. Perfect!

Wow- Feb. already. If I wasn’t on maternity leave (expecting a little one very soon!) I would be so excited about all sorts of valentines boudoir photography specials for the Grand Rapids area. As life goes, that is not the case, at least not this year. But please do get in touch about a spring photography session. Splurge on yourself. Give to yourself. You deserve it.
This amazing, beautiful, woman was my kind of chick. Easy to talk to. Relaxed but still private. Not entirely comfortable in front of the camera but quick to settle in. She loved her photos… we captured incredible variety within her photography session. Some more boudoir in flavor and some more head shot, lots that could be used for a modeling portfolio, even though she is not interested in that. She did it for herself, because she deserved every bit of it.

A lot of women in our Grand Rapids area talk about this type of boudoir photography or women’s portrait photography. “Who does that?” “Why do they do it?” I can tell you one thing. My favorite sessions are the ones with the women who do it for themselves. Who find themselves deserving of an afternoon of pampering, a little treat after a long winter or a long month or a long week. Of course I love all of the gorgeous women that I get to meet and get to know, but there’s something special about the confidence and self love that pours out of a woman who chooses to do this for herself.
What’s not to love about a make over photography session? Pampering? Getting beautified. Being posed, directed, perfectly lit so that all of the most flattering things shine and the others slip away.

My makeover photo sessions are not about photoshop. I don’t make you skinnier, don’t erase lines on your face. smile lines are there for a reason. Those and the creases next to your eyes are there to show you’ve smiled a lot in life. My women’s portrait photography is about smart lighting, smart posing. Smart posing is what it’s all about. When I walk into a grand rapids home for a photo session, I find my favorite spots and set them up. Play with curtains, arrange furniture a little, make the adjustments I need for soft, face friendly light. Posing is it’s own animal and my favorite, most flattering poses and angles are always evolving. I am directive during a photo shoot, only because I want you to look your BEST, and that does not mean working for hours in photoshop. Not at all.

I have a zillion more images of her that I can’t wait to show you. I’m having a baby next month and am taking some time off, so you’ll have to settle for more gorgeous images of the same gorgeous women while I’m on a little break. Would love to schedule some makeover sessions for the spring. Head shots, modeling portfolios, hot momma sessions. You name it- can’t get enough of this type of photography!

She is glowing when she’s fresh out of the shower and she is glowing when she puts her face on and does her hair all sassy and gorgeous. Photographing this woman at her Grand Rapids home was a great experience. Absolute fun. We got so many “looks” in, photographed her with her daughter, just had a good time. Life is good. Wanted to share an image of her before & after. I still struggle with how to define this type of women’s photography. It’s not just boudoir, and a woman’s beauty is not defined by how much she is wearing. There is something to be said for showing some skin though, and it’s really about how you *feel* for the photos. They are portraits of women. Each unique to every woman’s sense of self and beauty.

This woman was amazing. I went to her home in Grand Rapids (Ada, actually) for her makeover and portrait photography- pictures that she wanted to do just for her, just for fun. Her home was filled with her personality. I met her husband and he reflected her kindness, genuine sweetness and style. Her daughter was gorgeous, humble, amazing. Just before we started the makeover, and I snapped a quick “before” picture, she said that being photographed makes her nervous. I would never have guessed.

And another picture (a black and white portrait of her in her bedroom)…

One thing she told me: “I try not to let the things that make me nervous decide what I will or will not do.” Inspiring woman to photograph, inspiring woman to know, actually.
She knew how to work the camera. Even if it made her nervous, she was very comfortable once she got warmed up and I had to do very little “work” to pose her for these pictures. Stunning. Check out the about page for more info on these sessions!

Until next time! Enjoy the week!

I am new to the Grand Rapids area. We moved here from out of state earlier this year and re-starting a very established photography business all over again has been daunting. I am also a mother, wife, and even more…
Upon moving here, I quickly discovered THE BEST consignment boutique of all time. Rock Paper Scissors in East Grand Rapids is where it’s at. This place has the most gorgeous stuff. Everything from jewelry (I have tons), clothes, designer jeans, jackets (I LOVE the one I am going to get to wear next spring). All in all, I think it is kind of earthy, eclectic, just my style, but really you could get any style out of it depending on what you put together. Their prices are really reasonable considering the quality in their boutique.
Rock Paper Scissors… facebook page is here, but stop in! No better way to spend a pre-holiday weekend day than shopping for a little something for YOU! It’s all about pampering yourself little bits here and there!
